Getting To Know You

These two cutie pies were instantly friends. Allison has been the best big sister. She is so concerned, protective, curious, and infatuated with Benson. It is the cutest thing when she calls him Benny Boo or Benster Rama. She loves when we put him in her bed to help wake her up or to snuggle. She is always giving him toys to play with. She even gives him her favorites, Mr. Lion and nigh-night. That is big time sharing! Benson has been a wonderful little brother. He is always so calm and content even when he is accidentally stepped on, bonked, or smothered from his overly "loving" sister. He can make everyone, especially Alli, smile and cheer up faster than anyone. He gives the best smiles! We love them both like crazy. We are thankful for the love they share and we hope their blossoming friendship will always endure.

*haha: notice the pink sparkle dress Allison is wearing in every picture. She asks to wear it everyday and even wants to sleep in it. I kind of got a kick out of it when I saw that she had it on in every picture. I say if it doesn't hurt her, then no big deal. Gotta love it!

At The Hospital

~Benson~
In my completely unbiased opinion I must say that he very well may be the cutest little boy ever. We are in love!
He had a nice bath. He screamed like crazy at first but when he was wrapped up warm and getting his hair washed he loved it. I love seeing Dave's hand compared to Benson's face. So tiny, fresh, and brand new.
Here are a few visitors. I was so bad about taking pictures of people when they came. Makes me sad now. But Benson had a lot of visitors. Thank you everyone who came to see us, at the hospital and after.
We love each of you.
We loved spending time with Benson. Alli was sick while we were at the hospital so she stayed away most of the time. We missed her and loved the few times she came for visits but we also loved just spending time with Benson getting to know him. We had lots of cuddles and naps together, we dressed him up, went for walks in the hall. It was nice to bond with our new baby.
Time to go home...
Oh this outfit was so cute! I love the puppies on Benson's feet. And I can't believe how small he is in the car seat!
We love you Benny Boo!!!

Splish, Splash

Benson had his first bath at home with my mom there to help. He was not too happy or sure about it at first but soon he realized that everything was okay. A warm tubby feels nice and Alli was there to keep an eye on him. A freshly washed baby is the world's greatest thing to cuddle and my oh my they smell so good!

13 Days Old

This was our non-professional attempt at taking newborn photos. We had fun doing it and got a few good ones.
We wanted to remember how small our baby boy is.
To remember how tender, sweet, soft, adorable, and perfect this little bundle so fresh from heaven is.

Brother and Sister

Allison came up to the hospital after a couple of hours and got to meet her baby brother. She was so excited and sweet about it. Before my sister brought her up Alli insisted on bringing Benson a bottle, because babies drink milk of course. She had spent the morning drawing a picture and then brought that picture and the bottle of milk to the hospital. Allison is a very thoughtful girl. Benson wasn't the only one who got something special. Benson brought Allison a special Princess Bear when he came out of mom's tummy. No wonder I was so huge, I had a baby and a teddy bear in there ;) She loved her Princess Bear! My TWO cute kids!!! It has been so much fun seeing them together. They really love each other and we love having two little buddies!Alli just kept wanting to hug and kiss and touch him. She was so curious, excited, and happy but she was very careful and gentle with him.
Allison "holding" Benson for the first time. Cutie pie.

+1

The day we became a family of four....I was scheduled to have a C-Section and was told to be at the hospital at 8:30am. Dave and I went to the hospital and there we were told that they were swamped and to come back in two hours but to call before we came. So we went home and sat around. We had already done everything we needed to and the house was in perfect order, thanks to nesting, so we didn't know what to do. We called at 10:30 and they said to wait one more hour and be there at 11:30.
Finally our baby was coming!

Hi Benson! What a big boy! He weighed in at 9 lbs 1 oz and 22 inches long. When he was first measured right after the birth they told us 23 inches! But later, on some papers it said 22 inches? So we had our nurse remeasure him so we could know which was the real number. It was 22. The first picture with our new baby boy. We loved him so much!
Below is a picture with our nurse, Margene. She was the best! So nice, sincere, and helpful. We really liked her and she really liked Benson. :)We are so thankful that our sweet boy arrived safe and healthy!

Just the 3 of us....

Our last day as a family of three. We could not be happier about expanding our family and welcoming our baby boy. It has been emotional at times as we have expanded our hearts and slightly mourned the loss of our one on one time with Allison. We love her so much and already love her brother but it is just different. We hope this transition from one to two goes smoothly and quickly. On this our last day of three we loved spending the whole day together and loved having our families join us for dinner. We ended the evening lighting some fireworks because we have been telling Allison that baby brother will come out of mommy's tummy when the fireworks come. So here is to our exciting future, full of anticipation!
And then there were four.....
